Kids in that age group LOVE to be helpers!! Here are some of my tricks of the trade: 1) don’t be mean they will rebel so make it "us against them" with the kids and they’ll eat it up. 2) talk to them like people and they’ll adore you….ask them about school, their friends, their teachers, their dog, whatever.
3) Get them distracted doing something QUIET and productive…okay, guys, how about we surprise your mom by having your rooms all clean, or bet you guys don’t know how to play black jack! (and PS 7-10 is a PERFECT age for black jack, they can play with only 2 kids or with a ton of kids and they’ll be entertained all night)
just play games and stufff ask them what they want to do and if there good reward them but don’t reward them with food or money
* trust me i take a working with children class (:
i babysit
I Taking the problem away with a stern look
or seperating them and talk to them
set down the rules before they run wild
GOOD LUCK
The worst thing to let them do is kinda take sides, like the girl stays with you and the boy is all running around and not listening…that would not turn out good! the best thing to do is offer them a special prize if they do what you say. hope the job goes great!!
GET A DIFFERENT JOB!!!
ur obviously not spending ur pay on common sense…
Crafts are always a good idea. If you have some craft supplies (colored paper, crayons, markers, glitter, glue, etc.), it’ll allow them to cool off a bit, express their creativity, and have something to do. When the parents come home, they might also be impressed by the artwork their children are making. Or bake cookies with them – even with a mix or something, it can still be fun.
If you have all girls, then you can also help them try on some basic makeup (lip gloss, nail polish, etc. but nothing too much). Or if not, then just bring out a game and teach them all how to play. If you have a large group of kids, you can play "Murder," which is where one person is chosen to be the Murderer, everyone makes prolonged eye contact with each other, and if the Murderer winks at you then you die, then everyone tries to guess who the Murderer is. Kids have fun doing dramatic death scenes in this one. If you have a small group of kids, play a board game or a card game.
Children that age like to be treated like "big kids", so they’ll listen to you if you make it seem like that’s what big kids do or tell them you’re proud of them if they listen. If they are misbehaving, distractions are always good. Ask them about what they like to do and go from there.
Yes i do babysit. I think about what would be fun i watched one kid show before i babysit them and i try to talk to them i also we play games and watch movie. Play hide and seek and be really bad at it put a movie on also you are payed yo entertain them so you don’t want them out of your hair.
I’ve baby sat since I was about ten (I’m now twenty-three) and the best method is to actually interact with them. I rarely have behaviour problems with the kids I look after because I play games with them, help them with homework and listen to them when they talk to me. Doing all those things builds up their respect for me so when I tell them it’s time for bed or that they need to quiet down and find something less loud to do they listen and obey. You can’t expect to waltz into a household and be queen over the children if you don’t give them some respect, too.
So, here’s what you need to do:
Step One: Get off the computer.
Step Two: Ask them what their favorite games are.
Step Three: Tell them to go get a game and you will all sit down and play together.
Step Four: You can also (depending on weather) take them out in their yard and get active. Play tag, baseball, basketball, frisbee, do side walk chalk, make bubbles, etc.
Step Five: They are probably bored. Get on a kids’ craft site and find a fun activity like making play dough or Gak or an age appropriate craft.
Ask what they like to do. Dont decide what you do together for them. Let them choose because it will make you seem more fun. If they dont listen, make them go to their rooms or have a time out.
