What does he say in between “Change to London…” and “…Let’s say 24th December”? (Around 4:48 to 4:54.) Nothing I could come up with (powerless state, pallisade) made any sense.
I absaloutly adore it when David bobs down and goes: “Rose, it’s me, honestly it’s me” it’s just the way he says it and what he does I just love it! thumbs up if you agree
@MoPictures Because RTD isn’t writing the new series, he felt no need to make the transition between Doctor’s smoother and instead went in the opposite direction. As a writer, he often seems to want to deal with the subject of death and mortality (In Torchwood there is no afterlife, for instance). It’s a shame, though, because it’s almost as though he didn’t care that a new team of people have to come in an continue the story.
It’s simply what’s necessary for the writing – After one series, he needed to reassure viewers that the hero hadn’t changed so they’d keep watching, but then as he was leaving after five series he wanted it to be more tragic. It’s a bit of a double standard, especially as a lot of young viewers probably hate Matt Smith’s Doctor for “killing” Tenant’s Doctor. As a kind of happy accident, though, now Eccelston looks a bit braver as he regenerates, as at least part of him is literally dying.
Interesting how the Doctor insists here that he’s the same person, and yet, in “The End of Time,” he treats the end of his tenth incarnation as a literal death. Did his attitude towards regeneration change or did he lie to Rose?
@jamesball1
Ah! That fits. Thanks.
@Emrys26 it’s the Powell Estate where Rose lives
“Hair, I’m not bald!!”
the first time I saw him regenerate, I knew nothing of Doctor Who besides this season, so I had NO idea what was happening.

@totalugia In Wilf’s arms right then and there would have been AMAZING!
It also would have an awesome way of explaining why the 11th Doctor looks so young – as he regenerated in the arms of a father figure.
