How much should I charge to provide child care for two children?

My neighbor asked me to watch her two children (ages 2 & 5) for 4 hours a day for 3 – 5 days a week. I have a 2 year old of my own and I am a stay at home mom so I can really use the extra money. I would be watching the children in my own home and would have to provide a snack but no meals.

How much should I charge? Should I go with an hourly rate or a daily rate?

  1. it’s only 4 hours a day and 2 kids then i believe about 12 to 15 a day for both that is more than enough to give them a snack and watch them play with your child. interaction is great for kids so not only would your child have fun but so would they having someone else to play with.

  2. I am a day care provider and the going rate is about $3.50 per hour (in my area anyways, in central New York State).

  3. 8 bucks per hour or maybe 10

  4. my sister pays 400 a month for 1 kid. I have done daycare before. I would suggest $12/day per kid that’s actually a good rate these days.

  5. deffinatly 20 bucks a day. 10 per kid

  6. I would ask for a daily rate. Call around and see what other day cares are charging in your area, you might cut her a bit of a break. Just remember to add in extra food costs and all of that to what you charge.

  7. I’m from California and you need to ask for at least 5 dollars an hour. That’s the minimum. Go with an hourly rate just in case she is ever late or needs you to watch them longer.
    have fun.

  8. I would go with a daily rate of about $10-15 per kid.

  9. You should definitely charge 25 per day! It’s reaonable and worth your time. What can you do with 15 dollars a day? Buy a shirt?
