Why has there been a deafening silence from Nelson Mandela about the situation in Zimbabwe?
Does he belong to the same tribe as Mugabe or something?
I know he’s getting old but I think that he still has his marbles.
P.S. I don’t expect anything from Thabo Mbeke who has been as complete waste of space.
The guy will be 90 in July, is in fairly poor health, and has retired from public life to be with his family.
He has a new philosophy of "Don’t call me. I’ll call you."
I think he’s earned that right over the years. What say you?

He’s a retired ex politician in his 80′s…..give the old fella a break. Anyway, he’s too busy dancing and smiling like a goon.
What’s it to do with him? It’s not a race/apartheid issue, it’s not his country… why would you expect him to comment?

A convicted terrorist. One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. Do you know what he fought against. I very much doubt that you do know so let me inform you. He fought against a regime that used Black South Africans as slaves so I think you can agree that this is a good cause to fight for.
South Africa has it’s own problems with crooked politicians and corrupt officials.
Anyway he is a few sacks of coal short of a load.

Hey! Why all the unnecessary attacks on Mandela? What has Mugabe’s silence got to do with him? Why waste his energy on somebody you he knows won’t listen? Is Mandela the only President in Africa? Why haven’t you mentioned somebody else? They are all quiet because they know how stubborn Mugabe is. Do you think if Mandela commented then Mugabe would bow to that? The man would do anything to cling to power, if you know what a dictator is. I am an African, right here in Africa, i understand the situation better. Leave Mandela’s past behind it has nothing to do with Zimbabwe. Besides its not everything which has to be wired, even if to the outsiders it seems as if nothing is happe

Probably because Nelson Mandela has fuck all to do with Zimbabwe and he has retired what could he do that would change the situation none of the African leaders have a clue what is going on.

It would be helpful if Nelson spoke out but he’s old and retired.
African leaders do not criticise one another. It is an agreement they have.
Because the blacks and doing land reforms in SA now and probably also giving the land to family and their cronies. Pot kettle black. Mandela was a terrorist himself remember – that is why he was locked up! BTW he was also not on Robben Island for the last few years – only conveniently when he was released – high ranking people told me that. So to the people that think he is some God he is not.
Alister – black South Africans were NOT slaves. That is what they do as a job. Our maid got paid better than me plus had a free place to live and got fed free as well.
